Seasoned executive brings more than two decades of expertise in audit and finance

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors has selected Alan J. Davis as vice president for audit. He brings more than two decades of audit, finance and compliance experience and management leadership to the role.

“Alan Davis is an innovative audit executive, with broad expertise in revenue accounting, business processes and contract compliance,” said Jack Potter, president and chief executive officer of the Airports Authority. “We are fortunate to have Alan’s leadership, his knowledge of the Airports Authority goals and his insights on how to mitigate risks in our business.”

Since 1996, Davis has managed and executed audit engagements and interacted with all levels of management on technical issues and audit results. Early in his career, he served as an internal audit manager for Fannie Mae, developing and leading diverse auditing teams on the execution of large, complex audit projects. He continued to develop his expertise by producing audit strategies as director of financial, compliance and operational audit for AARP, and as a supervisory auditor for the contract audit team of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. He joined the Airports Authority in May 2017 and has been serving as acting vice president for audit since June 2018.

Davis holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business accounting from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
