The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will conduct an emergency exercise at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Saturday, September 18 from 9 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m. A river rescue exercise, featuring rescue boats and individuals being pulled from the Potomac River will also be part of the exercise. A simulated aircraft accident will test the Airport’s emergency operations plan and provide hands-on training to airport and mutual aid emergency response personnel. The exercise will not affect normal airport operations, and the exercise site will not be open to the public. PLEASE NOTE: On Saturday morning, there will be numerous emergency vehicles operating in the area of the George Washington Parkway near Reagan National Airport, smoke and fire may be visible from the south area of the Airport, and river rescue boats and helicopters will be operating on the Potomac River near the south end of the Airport—all part of the exercise. # # #
