Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located in Chantilly, VA and is twenty-six miles from downtown Washington, DC.

The Fire & EMS Department operates out of Fire Stations 302, 303 and 304 at Washington Dulles International Airport. These fire stations are strategically placed to protect the 12,000 acres of land that make up Washington Dulles International Airport. Personnel provide a wide range of services including aircraft rescue and firefighting, structural firefighting, emergency medical services-both basic and advanced life support, and hazardous materials response. 

Fire Station 302 staffs a variety of equipment which includes:

  • 1 Battalion Chief
  • 2 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) units
  • 1 Tower Ladder
  • 1 EMS Transport Unit
  • 1 Hazardous Materials Unit
  • 1 Medical Care Support Unit

Fire Station 303 equipment includes:

  • 1 Engine Company
  • 1 EMS Transport Unit
  • 1 Health and Safety Officer

Fire Station 304 equipment includes:

  • 2 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) units
  • 1 Mobile Command Post
  • 1 Deputy Shift Commander

Fire & EMS Department personnel assigned to IAD answer approximately 3000 calls for service each year.  These calls include mutual and automatic aid to the surrounding jurisdictions of Loudon and Fairfax Counties.
