Mark UncapherRobert W. Lazaro, Jr. serves as Executive Director for the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC). Mr. Lazaro has a long history of public service in the community serving eight years as Mayor and two years as Town Councilman in the Town of Purcellville, Virginia. During his service the Town was recognized in a number of areas for strong financial stewardship, environmental protection and sustainability. Under Lazaro’s leadership Purcellville became the smallest Town in Virginia to achieve a Triple A bond rating with its first foray into the bond market. Lazaro has served in the leadership in statewide and regional organizations, including as the current Vice-Chairman of the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation, former Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the NVRC and an active participant in the Transatlantic Urban Climate Dialogue with colleagues from Germany and Canada. Lazaro holds a degree in Public Administration from St. John’s University. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for more than 30 years. Mr. Lazaro is an appointee of the Governor of Virginia.

Mr. Lazaro is Co-Chair of the Business Administration and Sustainabililty Committees.  He also serves on the Dulles Corridor, Ethics ReviewHuman ResourcesRisk Management and Strategic Development Committees.
