A group of Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Officers will arm themselves with trays and aprons to support Special Olympics as part of the "Cops and Lobsters" fund raising event on Friday, April 14th. Authority Police will be working for tips at the Red Lobster in Herndon, Virginia from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Their tips will go to support Virginia Special Olympics and the Special Olympics World Games.

This is the sixth year that the Authority Police Department has been involved in this program and they have raised roughly $10,000 for Special Olympics. A similar event took place on March 10th and raised $2,300.

"This is a wonderful and fun way for the Authority Police to help Special Olympics athletes," said Joseph Hurtuk, Airports Authority Deputy Chief of Police and board member of Virginia Special Olympics. "Special Olympics has been a special charity for our police officers and we all are happy to get involved in events like the Torch Run, Plane Pull and this event."

On April 14th, a number of police officers along with Special Olympics athletes will be assisting Red Lobster employees in serving meals to customers. Please come join the fun of this event and bring your appetite and donation tip money.
