In 2023, we enhanced our sustainability efforts by recycling over 4 tons of electronics, 31 tons of paper, and 440 pounds of toner from both airports. We installed 12 mobile liquid collection stations at Dulles to reduce municipal solid waste and disposal costs. Additionally, we promoted sustainable mobility, with over 4,000 Capital BikeShare riders at DCA and over 1,000,000 passengers arriving at the Dulles International Airport Metro Station on the Silver Line, making it the busiest station on the line.

Our employees are our greatest asset, and our leadership is committed to continuous improvement. In 2023, We introduced psychological safety training, and hosted Workforce Development Expos, introducing over 350 high school students to careers at our airports. Community engagement is a key priority for the Airports Authority. We sponsored multiple employee-volunteer activities such as Wreaths Across America for veterans and the Earth Day Clean-Up at Innovation Elementary School, donated over 7,500 items to schools and shelters, and supported various charitable programs. Our annual Dulles Day and Plane Pull festival raised over $500,000 for Special Olympics Virginia.

Our governance philosophy centers on a commitment to ethical leadership, sound financial management, operational excellence, and transparency.  In 2023,  we received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.  We maintained the 100% completion rate of the Annual Ethics training for our employees and board members.
