Image Join Our Team Contact a Recruiter Image Chief of Police We proudly serve the two regional airports of our nation’s capital, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. We are a full-service police agency performing all aspects of law enforcement for the benefit of both our patrons and the employees who make up our community. The Airports Authority police department is one of the largest in the Northern Virginia area, and is comprised of 244 sworn officers, 33 Traffic Control Officers, and 11 civilian administrative personnel. Our Virginia certified police officers enforce Airports Authority regulations, the county codes of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun, and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. We work closely with our federal and local law enforcement partners, to include the assignment of sworn personnel to regional federal task forces. We enjoy strong ties to our neighboring agencies in the spirit of providing mutual support when needed. In response to the needs of the traveling community, we also have 5 mobile Safety Service Patrol personnel who provide assistance to motorists along the Dulles Toll Road. These personnel also assist at accident scenes by directing traffic in order to alleviate congestion.The airports serve more than 46 million passengers annually. Our work brings us into contact with a diverse group of people. These patrons range from vacationing families to traveling government officials, as well as an internal community of service employees and airline tenants. I strongly believe that cooperation between the police and our community is essential in promoting safety and security at our airports. Through effective communication, we learn the concerns of the community and give our message of service through partnership. Through action, we continue to know our community and deliver our promise to provide for the safety and security of all who visit and work here. Image Operational Services All new MWAA Police officers are assigned to the Patrol Division at either our Reagan National Command or Dulles Command. Our officers serve as the primary law enforcement responders to calls for service at Reagan National and Dulles International Airports. The Police Department is responsible for enforcing Airports Authority regulations, county codes in three separate county jurisdictions and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Police Department is a full-service police agency with traditional functions as well as security responsibilities that are unique to the airport environment.
