The Fire & EMS Department offers free CPR/AED, First Aid and Fire Extinguisher training courses to members of the airport community.

The Captain-Safety & Logistics is responsible for all logistical needs for the department, including procurement and issue of uniforms, equipment, supplies and personal protective equipment. Additional responsibilities include serving as the department’s Respiratory Protection Program Manager and the chair of all apparatus specification and procurement committees.
The Special Operations Division maintains training and incident response responsibility for special hazards, unique situations and unique modes of transportation. This includes hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction, AeroTrain automated people mover system, Metrorail commuter train system, area passenger and freight rail systems, bulk fuel facilities, area waterways and active shooter events. Special Operations also coordinates security intelligence gathering and dissemination of potential threat information.
