Airline and airport executives, staff and government officials from the United States and Taiwan gathered at Dulles International Airport (IAD) on Friday, June 26, to celebrate a major new milestone – the first ever nonstop flight from Washington to Taiwan. This new route on EVA Air to Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, Taiwan, is the longest served from Dulles at approximately 7,800 miles. The flights will operate four days per week, year-round on a Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring a three-class configuration.

Dulles International Airport is EVA Air’s 10th US destination and one of only two along the U.S. East Coast. This new flight is estimated to generate over $50 million annually in local economic impact.

“Today we come together to celebrate a historic milestone for Washington Dulles International Airport and the entire National Capital region,” said Jack Potter, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. “For the first time, residents and visitors can enjoy nonstop flights to Taiwan's premier technology and cultural hub and easily continue a journey to dozens of key destinations across east and southeast Asia. In the same respect, we look forward to welcoming thousands of new visitors who can explore our world-class museums and famed monuments and savor the rich cultural diversity of Washington, D.C.”
