Online 360-Degree Wayfinding, Flight Search and Concessions Listings Launched with All-New Website Content for Optimal Navigation

Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports have launched redesigned websites with powerful new tools to help customers search for flight information, navigate the airport and select places to shop and dine.

The new features, which include turn-by-turn directions to help passengers find their way through the airport, and intuitive flight search and tracking to give passengers the most up-to-date information, are part of a full redesign by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority of the airports’ website. Along with redesigns of the Airports Authority’s own site and the site for the Dulles Toll Road, the new design enhances usability and mobile compatibility to better serve travelers on the go.

“Our new website reinforces our focus on our customers,” said Jerome L. Davis, executive vice President and chief revenue officer. “At flyDulles.com and flyReagan.com, the new 360-degree views, turn-by-turn in-airport navigation, improved site design and mobile compatibility are just some of the features that make this a powerful customer-centric tool, designed to deliver world-class service to the traveling public in the digital realm.”

Vice President and Chief Information Officer Goutam Kundu added, “As technology advances, our website will remain on the cutting edge every step of the way. We will continue refining and adding to our site’s features that put the power of information and interactivity in our customers’ hands.”

Virtual Navigation

Virtual NavigationThe new virtual navigation tool available on flyDulles.com and flyReagan.com is a cutting-edge application among the first of its kind for airport websites. The tool allows passengers to plot their individual route, with step-by-step directions, between any starting and ending points in the airport. Passengers will also see a 360-degree view from any point within their journey. Major points of interest such as airline counters, shops, restaurants, restrooms and parking facilities are pre-programmed and searchable within the virtual navigation tool.

Flight Search

Flight SearchOne of the most popular tools from the previous website release has been improved on the enhanced site. Flyreagan.com/flights and flydulles.com/flights are powered directly by each airport’s in-house consolidated airline flight status feed. From one webpage location, customers can select a flight number, airline or city and choose from a range of results that narrow dynamically as more details are typed in the search field. After a selection is made, details include gate information, baggage claim information, weather, flight map and nearby concessions.

Concessions Listings

Concessions DirectoryIn order to help passengers make decisions about how to spend their time in the airport, flyreagan.com/foodandshops and flydulles.com/foodandshops have been greatly expanded to provide enhanced information about shopping and dining opportunities and how to find them. Shops and restaurants are searchable by category and gate area, pre- and post-security. All listings include business hours, store descriptions, menu items and photographs. With a wide-reaching redevelopment of airport food and shop offerings ongoing, the latest new offerings will be reflected on the website as they open for business.

Corporate and Toll Road Sites

Included in the launch are all-new corporate site sections at mwaa.com and mwaa.com/business and a new Toll Road website at dullestollroad.com. Navigation to all airport, corporate and Toll Road entities is just one click away from the top of any webpage. The new site is compatible for viewing on mobile devices and tablets, which have become increasingly popular with travelers.

The revamped website is the culmination of more than nine months of research, design and construction, and represents a top-to-bottom overhaul of the website to focus on customer experience. Passengers are encouraged to provide their feedback on the site, in order to help guide future updates. Additional online features, such as a mobile app to provide enhanced, personalized services, are under development and will be rolled out in the coming months.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, established in 1987 by the governments of Virginia and the District of Columbia, manages and operates Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports, which together serve more than 40 million passengers a year.
