The magazine launch marks another milestone in the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority’s effort to further enhance its service to the traveling public. Recent customer service advancements include a launching new user-friendly website, rolling out new technology that moves passengers more quickly through U.S. Customs and TSA security lines and upgrading the food, beverage and shopping options at the airports with dozens of top-quality options.

“We take pride in creating a world-class travel experience at Reagan National and Dulles International,” said Jack Potter, Airports Authority president and CEO. “FlyWashington enriches our passengers’ journey, whether here in the National Capital Region of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia or to the hundreds of destinations across America and around the world served by Reagan and Dulles airports.”

Producing a magazine specifically for travelers to and from Washington is an important aspect of the Airports Authority’s commitment to engaging with customers. “We have become much more connected with our passengers through social media, surveys and personalized customer service,” said Jerome L. Davis, executive vice president and chief revenue officer. “FlyWashington gives the Airports Authority a new way to share the many benefits of airport travel directly with people who are at the heart of everything we do.”

Chryssa Westerlund, vice president for marketing and consumer strategy, added, “Reagan National and Dulles International connect millions of travelers each year to amazing experiences in Washington and around the world. FlyWashington magazine encourages readers to experience all that our region and the world have to offer, while, at the same time, informing them about how our airports can be part of their journey.”

The inaugural fall/winter issue features a cover story about Washington’s most popular new attraction, the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The article explores many of the exhibits about the African American experience on display inside the 400,000-square-foot museum situated on the National Mall in close proximity to the Washington Monument.

The pages inside include a holiday gift guide, updates about new amenities at Reagan National and Dulles International, favorite recipes from chefs of airport restaurants and articles about things to do and places to stay at destinations reachable by nonstop flights from Washington’s airports. The inaugural issue details must-see attractions in Morocco; Lima, Peru; Punta Cana; Grand Cayman and Nassau, Bahamas. Local attractions, things to do and places to eat also are featured for visitors exploring the Washington region.

More than 50,000 copies of #FlyWashington have been distributed throughout Reagan National and Dulles International airports.
