The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), in partnership with University of Maryland Small Business Development Center, is proud to announce the launch of the 2027 Small Business University Program. This strategic initiative is designed to empower Small Local Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (SLDBEs) with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to accelerate growth and strengthen their capacity to compete for prime contracting opportunities.

Program Overview:

Location: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Headquarters

Two Potomac Yard, 2733 Crystal Dr, Arlington, VA 22202

Time: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Program Dates: Every Thursday (January 21, 2027 – March 18, 2027

Duration: 7 weeks

Cost: Free of charge

The program consists of weekly, in-person classroom sessions held once a week. Participants must commit to full attendance and sign an agreement to adhere to all program guidelines. 100% attendance is required for both acceptance and graduation.

Participants will receive in-depth instruction on key business competencies, including:

• Navigating MWAA’s Procurement Process

• Marketing to Government Agencies

• Cost Estimation Strategies

• Financing for Sustainable Growth

• Effective Proposal Development

This curriculum is specifically designed to equip business leaders with actionable insights to optimize operations, secure government contracts, and scale their enterprises.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Certified as a Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE)

• Minimum of two (2) full-time or part-time employees

• Documented annual revenue of at least $300,000

• Minimum of two (2) business references

• Demonstrated successful completion of at least two (2) projects aligned with their core capabilities
