Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA)
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department proudly partners with the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA) to provide comprehensive law enforcement training for our recruit officers.
The NVCJTA is one of the premier law enforcement academies in the Commonwealth of Virginia, preparing recruits to meet the highest standards of modern policing through rigorous academic instruction, physical training, and scenario-based exercises. Recruit officers receive training in criminal law, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and community-oriented policing.
Through this partnership, MWAA Police recruits are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism necessary to serve and protect the traveling public, airport employees, and surrounding communities. Following successful completion of the academy, officers continue with specialized field training focused on airport operations, transportation safety, and critical infrastructure protection unique to the airport environment.
The MWAA Police Department is committed to developing highly trained law enforcement professionals who exemplify integrity, accountability, and excellence in public service.
Newly hired police candidates will be assigned to the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy (NVCJA) located in Ashburn, Virginia for 20 weeks of law enforcement training.
Recruits will attend the academy four days a week. While attending the academy you will receive full salary and benefits.
