Reagan National Airport Parking Expected to Be Heavily Used Over the Holiday Week

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is expecting heavy travel during the upcoming holiday period and is urging passengers or those meeting them to call ahead to check on the status of available parking at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Based on figures compiled last year, parking garages and lots are expected to be heavily used beginning as early as this weekend April 7th and peaking mid-week April 11th.

DC Public Schools Art Exhibition at Reagan Washington National Airport

More than 300 works of art by students in District of Columbia public schools will be on exhibit in Terminal B/C at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport during the month of April. The theme, “Soaring in 2001”, will be reflected in the work from 100 elementary, middle, junior, and senior high schools throughout the city. The exhibition will be on display in the ground level of Terminals B and C where the baggage carousels are located.

Airports Authority Sponsors Job Fair With District Government

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will sponsor a Job Fair in conjunction with the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services on Tuesday, March 27th.  This event will provide information to District residents about job opportunities at Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airports.

 

 

 

The Job Fair will be held at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel at 1201 K Street, N.W. in Washington, D.C., from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

 

Airports Authority Police Waiting Tables for Charity

A group of Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Officers will arm themselves with trays and aprons to support Special Olympics as part of the “Cops and Lobsters” fund raising event on Friday, March 2nd. Authority Police will be working for tips at the Red Lobster at 2403 Centreville Road in Herndon, Virginia from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Their tips will go to support Special Olympics Virginia and the Special Olympics World Games.

Thanksgiving week starts the holiday season, which is expected to bring more travelers to Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is offering travel advice to area travelers.

"More people are flying than ever before and the holiday season brings more crowded conditions to airports. It is always wise to allow extra time for traveling to the airport and check-in with the airlines," says Airports Authority President/CEO James A. Wilding.

British Midland to Serve Washington Dulles International Airport

British Midland today announced the first scheduled service from Manchester, England to Washington D.C. with daily service set to begin on April 30, 2001.

Airports Authority Board Elects New Officers

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors has elected its officers for 2001. At the monthly board meeting today, Carolyn Boone Lewis was elected as incoming Chairman and Norman M. Glasgow, Jr. was elected Vice Chairman. Gregory Wolfe was re-elected as Secretary and Counsellor to the Board. They will assume these positions on January 1, 2001.
