The Training Unit is responsible for all in-service training for the police department.  In-service training classes can be taken at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy or within the police department to meet the mandatory training requirements instituted by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Criminal Justice Services for all sworn law enforcement officers. These classes are also conducted to ensure and assist officers in maintaining sharpness in their skills and abilities during their daily performance.  In-Service classes offered by the department include TASER, Patrol Rifle, OC Spray, ASP, RADAR/LIDAR, and Firearms training.

All classes are taught by highly trained staff within and outside the police department.
