The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is preparing for a busy spring and summer travel season at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

With passenger levels trending upward in 2022, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is advising airport travelers to expect congested airport-area roads, full parking facilities, busy terminals and new customer amenities for the upcoming travel season spanning Veterans Day weekend, Thanksgiving and other holidays through New Year’s Day. The Airports Authority is sharing essential tips travelers can use to prepare for a smooth journey. 

Economy parking lots reopening at Reagan National and Dulles International give travelers additional on-site options

Passengers at Reagan National and Dulles International Airports should be prepared for additional crowds and congestion from Thursday, Jan. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 22, for the 2017 Presidential Inauguration. 

A New Cell Phone Lot Closer to the Terminal Opens September 1

New Terminal Daily Lot, Just Steps from Main Terminal, Features Reduced Overnight Rate

Alexandria, VA— Anticipating a busy summer travel season, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will open an additional 2,000 parking spaces on Thursday, May 21. This will bring the total number of public parking spaces to 12,117. "We have seen continuing strong growth at Dulles, and served an additional one million passengers in 1997." said Airports Authority President/CEO James A. Wilding. "This summer will continue that trend so we are expanding our parking supply."

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has awarded a $95 million contract to Turner Construction Company to build two parking garages at Washington Dulles International Airport. These garages, totaling 2.7 million square feet, will be the first ever constructed at the airport. They will be located close to the Terminal and will provide over 8,400 covered parking spaces. The garages are scheduled to open in 2002.
