On Sunday, August 11th, there will be a brief detour for all traffic using roadways in front of Terminals A, B and C at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for approximately one half hour between 5:45 a.m. and 6:15 a.m.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will hold its Annual Business Opportunity Seminar for Local Disadvantaged Enterprises, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, and Minority and Woman-Owned Businesses onWednesday, November 6, 2002. The Authority operates Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airports. The Seminar will be held from 1:00 -5:30 pm at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, located at 2660 Woodley Road, in Northwest Washington DC.

At their meeting today the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors re-elected Norman M. Glasgow, Jr. as Chairman of the Board and the Honorable Robert L. Calhoun as Vice Chairman.

Thanksgiving travelers coming to Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports will see some new security-related requirements. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is offering travel advice to area travelers.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (Authority) is disappointed that the Air Transportation Stabilization Board decided to reject United Airlines' loan request. The Authority had previously provided a letter of support for United's application.

Nearly 1.4 million passengers will be traveling through Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports for the holiday season and knowing what to expect at the airport can help make for a smooth experience. The busiest days for travel will be December 20th-23rd for departure with the return trips spread out over several days with peak periods just before and just after the New Year. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors added two new members recently and elected a new Vice Chairman. Commonwealth of Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner has appointed Anne Crossman and Mame Reiley to represent the Commonwealth on the Board. Additionally the Board elected David T. Ralston, Jr. as Vice Chairman.

Today, at the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors, James A. Wilding announced his retirement from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which will take effect at the end of April of this year.

Today the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority selected James E. Bennett as President/CEO of the Airports Authority. Mr. Bennett will be only the second person to hold this position, succeeding James A. Wilding who will retire on May 2nd.

More than 300 works of art by students in District of Columbia Public Schools are on exhibit at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport through May 31st. The theme, "The Art of Achievement," is reflected in the works of more than 100 schools, pre-kindergarten through 12th grades. The exhibition is located on the lower (baggage) level of Terminals B & C.
