The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority board of directors on Wednesday approved the appointment of Precious Scott as the Authority's new vice president for audit, reporting jointly to the board and CEO Jack Potter.

Following a year of record passenger turnout at the region’s airports, Reagan National and Dulles International airports are prepared for the busiest four-month stretch of 2026: May through August. More than 19 million travelers are expected to take to the skies at Washington's airports during this period. New airlines, destinations and airport amenities will contribute to a smooth travel experience at the region’s airports this summer as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced today that Police Maj. Joseph Kluh, a 28-year veteran of the department, has been selected as its new police chief after an extensive nationwide search. He will begin his new role on May 17.

Airline and airport executives, staff and passengers gathered at gate B45 on Friday, April 24, to celebrate the new Air Premia nonstop service between Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The flights will operate four days per week year-round on a Boeing 787 aircraft configured for 320 passengers in premium economy and economy classes.  

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has named Deputy General Counsel Claire McKenna as its next senior vice president and general counsel, effective May 1. She succeeds Ashley Carvalho, who announced plans to  leave the Airports Authority in May due to personal family reasons.

More than 53.9 million passengers traveled through Reagan National and Dulles International airports in 2025, breaking the previous year’s record for the two-airport system, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Tuesday. Significant growth in travelers at Dulles was enough to offset a slight decline in Reagan National passengers compared with its record-setting year in 2024.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority welcomed Trent Morse on January 21, 2026, to its board of directors for a six-year term. Morse is a federal appointee of President Donald J. Trump.

Air Premia will begin new nonstop service between Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on April 24, 2026.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority board of directors elected Mark Uncapher to serve as its chairperson and Alex Vogel to serve as vice chairperson for 2026 at its November 19 meeting. The board also re-elected Felice C. Smith as vice president and secretary to the Airports Authority. All three will serve one-year terms in office beginning in January.

The upcoming holiday travel season – Veterans Day on November 11 through the New Year’s holiday – is expected to bring high levels of passengers to airport roadways, parking facilities and terminals.
