Public Information Workshops to be held on proposed design updates to Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will hold two public information workshops to update the public on the latest design plans for the 11.6 mile section of Phase 2 of the Dulles Metrorail Project which will be built from Wiehle Avenue on the eastern edge of Reston in Fairfax County to Route 772 in Ashburn in eastern Loudoun County. Information will be provided on the six future Metrorail stations in Phase 2, including an alternative option for the Washington Dulles International Airport station.

Airports Authority Starts New Safety Service Patrol to Assist Motorists on the Dulles Toll Road and Dulles Airport Access Highway

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority now provides a new Safety Service Patrol, a free service to assist motorists on the Dulles Toll Road and the Dulles Airport Access Highway. The Safety Service Patrol is available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers the following services: • Fixing flat tires                         • Providing emergency gas for an empty tank

Pet Relief Areas Provide Enhanced Service to Airport Travelers at Dulles and Reagan Nationa

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has opened several “pet relief areas” at Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports. These areas give travelers a new option when their pet or service animal needs a bathroom break while at the airport. The typical layout of each pet relief area at Dulles includes a mockup of a fire hydrant placed on artificial “K-9 grass” in a fenced-in area. The grass was developed to be paw-friendly to our four-legged friends and easy to maintain.

The Dulles Corridor Advisory Committee (DCAC) will meet on Tuesday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project Office in the 1st Floor Conference Room, located at 1593 Spring Hill Road in Vienna, VA. This meeting is open to the public. The DCAC is an eight-member committee that advises the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority on issues related to the management, improvement and expansion of the Dulles Corridor, as well as future changes to toll rates on the Dulles Toll Road to fund roadway improvements and the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors today unanimously approved a resolution ratifying a Memorandum of Agreement that will ensure the continuation of the Dulles Rail extension to Loudoun County. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is a multi-party agreement that outlines the fiscal responsibilities of federal, state and local entities in the estimated $2.8 billion phase 2 of the rail project.
