AIR CARGO WORLD PUBLISHES THE FINDINGS OF THE 2009 AIR CARGO EXCELLENCE SURVEY

'Significant Improvements' noted for Delta Cargo, Qantas and Qatar Airways, with Washington Dulles, Stockholm, Milan and Shanghai airports jumping up the Index rankings

ROSWELL, GA (March 4, 2009) Air Cargo World, the global news authority on air logistics and freight transport, has unveiled the findings of its fifth annual Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) Survey, which measures carriers and airports on specific criteria and ranks these to identify above or below average performance. Airlines are rated by freight forwarders on Customer Service, Performance, Value and Information Technology; airports are rated by airlines on Performance, Value, Facilities and Regulatory Operations. The full results, including index rankings by region for each of the measures evaluated, are available online at www.aircargoworld.com and featured in the March issue of the monthly magazine, published by UBM Aviation (www.ubmaviation.com).

Emirates Sky Cargo has impressed freight forwarders the most, narrowly displacing Lufthansa to top the overall global Index for air carriers, followed by Singapore Airlines, KLM and Virgin Atlantic.

Airports who were rated highest by airlines and forwarders included Memphis in North America, Frankfurt in Europe and Singapore in Asia/Middle East in the one-million-or-more tonnes category. In the below half-a-million tonnes category the top scorers were Dallas Fort Worth, Cologne/Bonn and Osaka. For the smaller airports category, Washington Dulles and Stockholm both jumped to top spot in their regions, with Buenos Aires and Bahrain having the highest index ratings in South America and Asia/Middle East respectively.

Delta Cargo, Qantas and Qatar Airways were among a number of airlines whose Index ratings showed a 'significant improvement' over last year, while Shanghai makes the biggest improvement in the mega-airport group and Milan Airport jumped from 22nd place to second in its category.

Steve Prince, publisher of Air Cargo World, said, "The ACE Survey provides a benchmark for the industry with quantifiable customer feedback on key performance measurements. Carriers and airports use the results of this survey to track their own year-on-year performance through the eyes of their customers, and to measure themselves against competitors. It's heartening to see that 44 per cent of carriers reached or exceeded an 'excellent' rating this year."
