Leaders of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation met Thursday in Taipei, Taiwan, to sign an agreement promoting travel connectivity between Washington, D.C., and Taipei. Washington is the largest passenger revenue market currently without a non-stop international flight to Taiwan-Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Wednesday that 11 new concessions will begin development at Dulles International and Reagan National airports in the coming year. The food, beverage and retail brands represent the latest awards in the multi-year program to redevelop more than 80 concessions at the airports. Since 2023, concessions redevelopment has delivered 47 new or renovated locations for airport customers.

Airports Authority Releases Passenger Totals for 2024

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced that more than 53.54 million passengers traveled through its airports in 2024. This represents 5.8 percent growth from the year before and is a new system-wide record. Most of the increase happened at Washington Dulles International, which added six new airlines and experienced a record passenger total for the first time since 2005.
