Leaders of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation met Thursday in Taipei, Taiwan, to sign an agreement promoting travel connectivity between Washington, D.C., and Taipei. Washington is the largest passenger revenue market currently without a non-stop international flight to Taiwan-Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority on Wednesday named Keith Autry as vice president for engineering and Dulles capital programs. The action fills a vacancy created when Thomas R. Beatty was promoted in March 2025 to executive vice president and chief operations officer. 

Airline and airport executives, staff and passengers gathered Friday, July 25, at Dulles International Airport (IAD) to celebrate 30 years of air service on Korean Air. With the summer travel season taking off Memorial Day weekend, Dulles International and Reagan National airports are ready to launch summer vacations to destinations across the United States and around the world. More than 20 million passengers are expected to travel through the region’s two airports from May through August, with 11 million of those customers using Dulles International.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Wednesday that 11 new concessions will begin development at Dulles International and Reagan National airports in the coming year. The food, beverage and retail brands represent the latest awards in the multi-year program to redevelop more than 80 concessions at the airports. Since 2023, concessions redevelopment has delivered 47 new or renovated locations for airport customers.

Airline and airport representatives, staff and passengers gathered Thursday at Dulles International Airport to celebrate the inaugural launch of nonstop service on Contour Airlines from Washington, D.C., to Macon, Georgia, and Plattsburgh, New York, on Embraer ERJ-135 aircraft. With this new addition, Dulles travelers can choose among 46 airlines – more than any other airport in the National Capital Region.

The Airports Authority board of directors approved the selection Wednesday of Ashley K. Carvalho as senior vice president and general counsel, succeeding Johnna Spera, who retires at the end of this week. Carvalho currently serves as senior legal counsel at the Massachusetts Port Authority, or “Massport,” which operates Boston Logan International Airport, Worcester Regional Airport, Laurence G. Hanscom Field, the Conley Container Terminal and Flynn Cruiseport.

Airline and airport executives, staff and special guests gathered Tuesday evening at Dulles International Airport to celebrate the launch of Royal Jordanian’s nonstop service from Washington, D.C., to Amman, Jordan, on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. With this new addition, Royal Jordanian is the 47th airline to serve Dulles travelers.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority named Thomas R. Beatty as executive vice president and chief operations officer, overseeing the operations of Reagan National and Dulles International airports, the Dulles Toll Road, the Office of Public Safety, Strategy and Operational Performance and related facilities and functions.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority welcomes Kim Clark Pakstys and Paul F. Sheridan Jr. for six-year terms as new members of its board of directors. Both are appointees of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin.    

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced that more than 53.54 million passengers traveled through its airports in 2024. This represents 5.8 percent growth from the year before and is a new system-wide record. Most of the increase happened at Washington Dulles International, which added six new airlines and experienced a record passenger total for the first time since 2005.
